The Slicing of the Lambs
This weekend was a very bad time to be a lamb here – it was Πάσχα , Easter, a week later than in Western Europe and elsewhere, and on Easter Sunday the air was full of the smoke from countless barbecues as friends and families gathered to celebrate with the traditional feasting.
Easter is far and away the most important religious festival here, much bigger than Christmas.
I’ve always thought that it would be a very bad idea to be re-incarnated as a pig in Germany as your chances of making it past breakfast, let alone lunch and dinner are minimal, but being a lamb or goat in Greece at Πάσχα is equally dangerous
